Groe was arrested for DUI. She confessed to
being a “functional alcoholic,” and had 0.16%
alcohol in her blood. She was sentenced to 10
days in jail.

Republican District Attorney in Durango
Colorado, Craig Westberg was arrested for
driving under the influence of sleeping pills and
causing an accident. Westberg has pleaded not
guilty to the charges from October of 2007, and a
trial has been set for May 19, 2008.

In 1978, Westberg was arrested twice for drunken driving. On one
of those occasion he hit a horse with his car and served fifteen
days in jail. He was serving as district attorney in Durango at the
time.

was arrested for DUI. He tried to get the charges
dropped because the Georgia Legislature was in
session at the time.

Scott Boggio was arrested for DUI after
driving without a license plate and driving over
a curb. He later blew a 0.14% on the
breathalizer. The judge ordered Boggio to
pay a $690 fine and to take an alcohol
awareness class.

Jeffrey Kaelin was arrested for OUI (Maine’s
equivalent of DUI) with a 0.13% blood alcohol
level. He was arrested after a minor crash
maneuvering out of a parking space.

Kansas Senate Majority Leader, Republican Lana
Oleen pleaded guilty to DUI. Her was license
suspended for 30 days and she was restricted to
driving to and from work and to and from sessions
of an alcohol safety program for 330 days.

Kansas State Senator, Republican Edward Pugh
was arrested for DUI. He was sentenced to a
diversion agreement where the charge was
dismissed at the end of a year if he isn't involved
in a similar offense, and paid a fine of $819 and
was required to write letters of apology to two
police officers linked to the case based on his
conduct in the incident.

Republican Matt Shaner, pleaded
guilty to running a stop sign and failing
to report an accident. Shaner
reportedly left the scene of his DWI
after crashing his vehicle and then hid
in his home when the police arrived.

Texas State Representative, Republican
Mike Krusee was arrested for DWI in
Williamson county (just outside the city of
Austin). Krusee has been an advocate
of tougher DWI laws. The arresting
officer said he was, “weaving from one
side of the lane to the other.” He also
had expired license plates.
